Welcome to The Group
The Group is a series of programs designed to allow young people to learn and practice life skills in a really fun way. These are not only the transferrable skills that are key to feeling deeply happy, but also comprise the skill-set that this generation’s future employers are looking for.
The Group gives young people an awesome edge in that they start to think about things like empathy, self-leadership, making a difference, how they’re communicating, what their passion is and how to follow it, what it means to be a good listener, respecting other’s opinions, how to be a great team player...all at a very young age.
Participants in The Group’s programs develop a language that sets them apart. They have a self-awareness which is rare even in adults, but especially in children. They develop a deep confidence because they finally learn about things that the world ‘expects’ them to understand, but offers no education in…like how to be a good listener, how to follow your passion, how to be a good friend, how to think outside the box.

FEEDBACK
"Leah Davidson recently designed and delivered a program at Woodleigh School over a number of weeks entitled ‘Thinking Outside the Box’. This was part of the school’s Activities Program, for which students select from a range of options. The focus of the program was on mindset, with the aim of helping the students understand their own thinking and how to shift their mindset to help achieve their goals. The program was aimed at Year 10 students, and the group also included students who were quite disengaged at the school and had not submitted any choices as part of the Activities balloting process. This presented a challenge for Leah but she was able to work productively with the group as result of her own force of personality, good humour and through meticulously planning a range of interesting games and fun activities for the students. Leah constantly evaluated the program as it was delivered and was very open to feedback from students and assisting teachers throughout.
The final class with the students as well as the student feedback revealed how much the students had learned during the program. What students most appreciated was the trusting relationship that had been developed with Leah as well as the huge effort Leah put into the program to ensure full student engagement.
We would be love to continue to work with Leah in the future and recommend her to schools considering a similar program.

"I liked finding what my values/personality was and learning about the jobs."

10/10 Still think about the comment my son made when he came home one night after the tool box “ I feel all happy after I see Leah" It has been useful for the boys to gain a better awareness of self and others. I think they've found it useful to understand why people are the way they are (fears) and they connected with the session on meanings we give to things.
