HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR WORD OF THE YEAR

Creating a WORD of the YEAR is a simple yet powerful life hack that can give you that extra subconscious support you need to start to create real change in your life over the next 12 months.

And you don’t need to do this on the 1st of January…you can create your WORD of the YEAR at any time. It is a simple way to give your mind what it needs to support you in a simple yet powerful way throughout the next 12 months.

A WORD of the YEAR is a great way to set your intentions for the year ahead by creating a personal theme for the next 12 months.

Your WORD of the YEAR will become the filter you’ll see, hear and think through in the coming year. So the things in the world that are aligned with your word will stand out and add to the power of your intention. Your word will become a consistent reminder, from you to you, to focus on creating the positive change you want.

4 EASY STEPS to CHOOSE YOUR WORD OF THE YEAR

1. PICK AN AREA OF LIFE

Choose the AREA OF LIFE that you’d like to take to the next level over the next year: Relationships, Health, Career, Social, Finances, Hobbies, Community/Impact, Personal/Other

2. BRAINSTORM POSSIBLE WORDS

A WORD of the YEAR is a word that really resonates with you. It is a word that represents a MINDSET or ATTITUDE ( like being ‘motivated’ ) that you’d love more of in the Area of Life you chose.

I’ve created a list of words for you to use to brainstorm and select words that really resonate with you if you’d like some support with this. You can find them here.

But wait!! Before reading through that list, give yourself a couple of minutes to brainstorm and see if any words pop into your head when you ask yourself this question:

“What quality, trait, attitude or way of thinking
not only inspires me but is what I need more of to achieve my goal?”

3. DECIDE WHAT’S BEEN MISSING SO FAR

Another way to think about your word is to ask yourself what has been MISSING in your actions, mindset, approach to achieving your goal in this area of life? What do you aspire to develop in yourself?

How could you change your approach is a positive way and that would guarantee a different outcome for you?

Look at the list of words through this filter and locate words that inspire you to believe that by being those words, you can really start to see that it is possible to achieve

4. CHOOSE YOUR WORD

  • Start by making a list of all of the words that really resonate with you

  • As you find words that resonate with you and you can sense that they represent what’s been missing for you, write them down. Allow yourself to write a few words down, but be discerning. Only write the ones that really hit home and resonate most.

  • You can check the list of words I mentioned and linked above to see if there are any others that feel right to you.

  • Choose your WORD of the YEAR! If more than 1 word resonates, choose up to 3 but the shared wisdom is that succinct is most powerful.

Your word will be a gentle yet constant reminder of what is important to you and what you want to be bringing out in yourself over the next twelve months.

A wonderful way to keep your WORD of the YEAR front of mind is to write it down on something that you see often. This could be a note on the fridge, or a screensaver on your phone. You could write it in lipstick on your mirror :) or do a painting of it and frame it. The more you keep your word in your conscious mind, the more powerful it is in your life. It becomes the lens you see life through.

I’d love to hear how you go creating your word and any of the ways you find to keep them in mind through the day.

I hope this helps xxLeah
